The ENIUS network carried out in the Malta University a Workshop focused on Coatings. The local organization was excellent led by Prof. J. Buhagiar and prof. B. Mallia from the Malta University of Lublin
During two days the 33 attendants could discuss and enjoy the presentations made by the speakers: Dr. Martijn. Riool (Amsterdam UMC, The Netherlands), Dr. Meital Reches. (Inst. of Chemistry. The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Israel), Dr. Alexandre Barros (I3Bs - Research Institute on Biomaterials, Biodegradables and Biomimetics of University of Minho, Portugal), Prof. Dr. Yusun Can (Koc University. Istanbul. Turkey), Dr. Maria Kovacova (Polymer Institute. Slovak Academy of Sciences. Bratislava. Slovakia), and Dr. Federico Soria (JUMISC, Cáceres-Spain. ENIUS Chairman).
Throughout the time of the Workshop there was time for a Hands-on innovation session as a Brainstorming on How to improve urinary stent coatings? Evaluation of commercially available urinary stents. Design and placement systems. This allowed the exchange of knowledge and the answer to many questions among the members of this multidisciplinary group. At the end, the ten early career investigators presented their oral communications on matters related to ENIUS: coatings, antimicrobial polymers, hydrodynamic effect for adhesion and biofilm studies, evaluation of biodegradable stents, etc.
